Minecraft week- We will be exploring the game Minecraft with hands on recyclable materials, using our engineering skills, and creating our own Minecraft worlds. This is the beginning of my journey learning about Minecraft I am sure after I interview and brainstorm with children from prior summers, we will come up with some fun Minecraft madness😊
Harry Potter Week– For the Harry Potter lovers, there will be Harry potter trivia, designing our own wands, learning spells and developing our own, broomstick races and games, and more! I will also be holding a discussion panel on this topic as well with previous students to develop activities of their interests😊
Finding Fairyland- We will be looking at miniatures as we create our own, as well as designing and creating our own fairy houses to place on the trails of tower park. We hope to inspire everyone involved and the community to get out and take a hike😊 We will develop a marketing plan for our Finding Fairland project to encourage the community to visit the Tower Park trails.
Survival Week- We will be gearing up for family summer camp outs and exploring the wilderness around our communities. Children will learn how to use exploring tools such as a compass and map, make survival bracelets, practice putting up and taking down a tent, the best foods to pack when hiking/camping, designing and creating their own walking stick, and much more! Our hope is to end survival week (on a weekend) with a campout at AJ Jolly for all families of Natural Start Preschool.
There is an artist in side each one of us and we want to bring it out😊 Discover different types of art; Sketching, painting, and pottery. We hope to have several different artists join us to talk about their craft as well as enjoying a canvas painting class,
The Great American Bake off- Inspired by the recent holiday American bake off show, we will be learning about baking, what types of ingredients are used in baking, the tools used to create the deliciousness, and of course bake and decorate. We will also be visited by a baker who will teach us icing techniques.
We will have a bake off the last day which will require your child to bake a cake or cupcakes at home with a parent to bring in that last day to decorate. Please be prepared to have your child bring in icing and other decorating needs. We will have guest judges who will be handing our several awards such as most creative, best taste, best theme.
Authors and Illustrators– we will have several visitors who will share their journey of being an author/Illustrator and their techniques for writing/illustrating. We will discover different types of books, their styles of writing, and the many ways illustrators create the pictures to go with their writing. Finally, we will be brainstorming, developing, and creating our own books!
World of Water- There is nothing better than water! We will be exploring water in many ways; what it is, what it can do, how we use it, and of course having just plain old fun with it. We will touch on topics such as erosion, harnessing its energy, and using it as an art medium. Finally, we will run, jump and play in it while we play fun water games on water days.
America’s got talent- I will be searching for visitors who would like to come share their talent with the class. It could be juggling, playing an instrument, magic tricks, dancing, anything! We love to share in everyone’s talents! Which is why at the end of the week we will have our own talent show at the Amphitheatre. Each child may do their own performance by themselves or with a group. All parents and anyone in the community will be invited!
Activities will be based on the visitors who will be joining us. If you know someone who would like to visit our class and share their talent, please have them email Katie at email@example.com. We greatly appreciate you’re your time and effort in helping us find them😊
